Urban Concrete & Construction is a licensed and insured commercial concrete contractor headquartered in North Dallas. We self-perform heavy-duty paving, structural foundation work and commercial flatwork across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, working directly with developers, general contractors, property managers and facility teams.
Concrete does not fail on its own. It fails because the ground underneath it moves. The Metroplex sits on Blackland Prairie Vertisol clay that shrinks through drought and swells with hydrostatic pressure through spring. We specify subgrade treatment, reinforcement and mix design against that movement rather than pouring over native dirt and hoping.

How the work
gets delivered
We are a technical contractor, not a crew with a truck. Numbers are measured, mixes are specified, and compliance is designed into the scope instead of corrected after inspection.
Engineered execution
Estimates are calculated from digital laser levels, exact square footage and precise material density, so the bid reflects the site rather than an allowance. Mix design, reinforcement and subgrade treatment are specified against the load the finished surface has to carry.
Commercial coordination
Multi-phase work is sequenced with facility teams and general contractors so supply chains, loading docks and tenant access keep running. High-early-strength materials and rapid-curing systems return sections of the property to service in hours rather than weeks.
Code-conscious construction
ADA built to a true 1:12 with cast-in-place iron truncated domes, Dallas Chapter 43-63 trip hazard remediation, and 300-CFM HEPA dust extraction on all cutting and routing so active inventory and adjacent tenants stay protected.

The ground under
the Metroplex
The Dallas Metroplex sits directly on the Blackland Prairie, a geological zone defined by expansive Vertisol clay. Through summer drought the soil shrinks and cracks. Through spring flooding it absorbs water and expands with thousands of pounds of upward hydraulic pressure.
Generic contractors ignore that reality and pour cheap concrete straight onto native dirt. We treat the subgrade chemically with lime stabilization, drive steel piers to bedrock, and tie continuous grids of #3 deformed rebar, so the finished structure holds its line through the cycle instead of tracking it.
